How much tension are the 1" and 1.5" buckles able to withstand? I need them to replace broken buckles on my boat cover.

The strength of these buckles is not provided by the manufacturer. That being said, from our experience these buckles are stronger than many of the plastic buckles on the market. If the buckles you are replacing are plastic, then these should work well.
